1. Why is it that we exchange Valentines? Whether it is a ‘Will You Be Mine?” card, a box of chocolates or a gift pack of KY products, we have all gifted them at one time or another. After some research late last night, I discovered that the tradition came from the late 14th Century as the Black Plague (or Black Death) was sweeping throughout Europe. Those that were not yet infected, were chosen (by a system of lottery) to leave the affected areas in hopes of survival. The winners were gifted a document called the Valentins. One piece of paper. One chance to escape death. Will you be mine?
