1. PostSecret
This was in this weeks PostSecret, and this has been one of my favorite quotes since I first read the book it originated from, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, when I was 17. Since then I have bought and given the book away more times than I can count, because it’s the sort of book that you want to share with people you love.
One of the more touching parts (though the whole thing is really touching) is when the main character, Charlie, takes his sister to the abortion clinic. He starts thinking about all of the ways she has looked to him in his life.
“And when she started becoming a “young lady,” and no one was allowed to look at her because she thought she was fat. And how she really wasn’t fat. And how she was actually very pretty. And how different her face looked when she realized boys thought she was pretty. And how different her face looked the first time she really liked a boy who was not on a poster on her wall. And how her face looked when she realized she was in love with that boy. And then i wondered how her face would look when she came out from behind those doors.”
